FOUR SEASONS
PHILADELPHIA FINDS SCHIAPARELLI “SHOCKING"
Fall exhibition at Philadelphia Museum of Art inspires hotel package
PHILADELPHIA, September 31, 2003 – Four Seasons Philadelphia offers a “Shocking” package in conjunction with Shocking: The Art and Fashion of Elsa Schiaparelli at Philadelphia Museum of Art September 28 through January 4. Schiaparelli, the scintillating and enigmatic designer who captivated many of the most creative minds of the mid-twentieth century and was regarded as the style arbiter of the 1930s, will be the subject of the first-ever retrospective of her work. Included in the exhibition are dresses given in 1969 by the designer herself to the Philadelphia Museum.
The “Shocking” package includes overnight accommodations on Friday or Saturday, American breakfast for two, parking for one car and two tickets to the exhibition. Rates begin at $320 per couple.
“Eating is not merely a
material pleasure,” Schiaparelli said. “Eating well gives a spectacular joy to
life and contributes immensely to good will and a happy companionship. It is of
importance to the morale.” She would have loved the Fountain Restaurant. Both
the Fountain and the adjacent Swann Lounge & Café will channel the spirit of
Schiaparelli. The Swann will feature a Shocking Martini of the radiant pink
that was her
signature color
and Executive Chef Martin Hamann’s Fountain menu will feature dishes inspired by
her intensity and brilliance. The Fountain Restaurant foyer will display still
life arrangements in the style of Schiaparelli and her artistic contemporaries.
