CALENDAR ALERT
PHILADELPHIA, July 17, 2002 – Strut your stuff in Philadelphia this holiday season during Winter Mummerland, when the banjo-strumming, sequined-suited Mummers take to the streets every Wednesday through Saturday from November 29 (the day after Thanksgiving) through December 28, 2002. During the month-long festival, which is now in its second year, the famous, festooned revelers ride through town on lighted floats, playing their string band music to delighted – and dancing – crowds throughout Philadelphia. Winter Mummerland culminates with the New Year’s Eve Fireworks and New Year’s Day Mummers Parade. Visitors in town for the holiday season can take advantage of the Philly Overnight Hotel Package, offering guests the opportunity to stay one night and get the second night free on weekends from November 22, 2002 through March 30, 2003.
The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation is a non-profit organization dedicated to generating awareness of and visitation to Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties. For more information about travel to Philadelphia and hotel packages, visit
