Tickets at Independence Hall
Independence National Historical Park (INHP) has announced a timed ticket system for tours of Independence Hall. Beginning June 1, 2002, visitors will need free timed tickets to see Independence Hall and the other historic buildings on Independence Square without the usual hour-long wait during the busy season.
Free tickets will be available on the day of the visit at the Independence Visitor Center at 6th and Market Streets, Philadelphia, and are available in advance through the National Park Service (NPS) nationwide reservation system. Visitors planning their trip can reserve tickets up to twelve months in advance of their trip by calling 1-800-967-2283 for reservations from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily (Eastern Time), or by visiting the web site:
www.reservation.nps.gov.Reserved tickets can be picked up the day of the tour at the Independence Visitor Center "will call" window. Using the advanced ticket system, there is a $1.50 per ticket service charge for the otherwise free tickets, which must be picked up at least one half hour before the tour begins. Advance ticket reservations will begin on March 15.
Tickets will be in use through October 31, as well as the four days of Thanksgiving weekend, and the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. During the ticket season 35 to 40 percent of all tickets will be available for advance reservation.
