Ismail Merchant will be the guest of honor at the 15th Annual Philadelphia Weekend Film Festival. He has collaborated on more than 40 films with James Ivory including classics such as "Room with A View," "Remains of the Day" "Mr. and Mrs. Bridge" and "The Golden Bowl.."
The weekend includes discussions with Ismail Merchant, five full-length feature films as well as clips and a lecture by Professor Annette Insdorf, Chairman of the Film Department of Columbia University.
The weekend package includes an overnight stay at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Saturday afternoon lunch, a gala evening of cocktails, dinner and discussions, and Sunday brunch and use of the health club. Four of the guest director's films will be shown at the Prince Theatre along with a " night owl film" at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on Saturday following the gala dinner. In previous years, honorees included directors, Philip Kaufman, Norman Jewison, Alan Pakula, , John Schlesinger, and actors, Kevin Bacon, Richard Dreyfuss, and Meryl Streep.
Screenings, discussions, and a whirlwind of epicurean delights fill the weekend," says Lonnie Levin who co-directs the festival with Pamela Schreiber and Marsha Dorman. "The film festival is a great opportunity for movie lovers of all ages to get together in a relaxing and elegant setting. We're delighted to celebrate our fifteenth year at the Ritz Carlton and the state of the art Prince Theatre."
