OUTDOOR CAFES ADD SPICE TO PHILADELPHIA DINING SCENE

Al Fresco Dining Trend Grows in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA, June 8, 2001 – Ever since the chic new restaurant Rouge opened on fashionable Rittenhouse Row in 1998, Philadelphia diners have been craving more outdoor dining settings – and getting them.

Rittenhouse Square has attracted many popular restaurants with outside cafés, including Neil Stein’s Bleu at The Sheraton Rittenhouse and Devon Seafood Grill. Within a few blocks, restaurant patrons can find Opus 251 at the Philadelphia Art Alliance, a gem with a secret garden, Audrey Claire, a popular neighborhood meeting spot, Davio’s, a Northern Italian Steakhouse and Avenue B, a new Italian restaurant overlooking the soon-to-open Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

Outdoor cafés have also proliferated along the Delaware River waterfront, in nearby Manayunk and in the surrounding countryside.
