WHERE TO SPEND NEW YEAR’S EVE
PHILADELPHIA, November 17 -- Philadelphia celebrates the real millennium on Sunday, December 31, with free activities for the whole family, kicking off at 10 a.m. with a "Rocky Run" from City Hall to the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Evening festivities include "Luminaire on the Square," a garden fireworks show in Rittenhouse Square at 8 p.m.; Old City Parade at 10 p.m.; South Street Festival at 1 a.m.; and midnight fireworks. On New Years Day, the Mummers take to Market Street for their 100th annual Parade.
HOTEL CELEBRATIONS

The Marriott Philadelphia, 1201Market Street, is offering "Room With A (Mummers) View" for fans of the Mummers Parade, which turns 100 on New Year’s Day. At the Omni Hotel at Independence Park, 401 Chestnut Street, the Azalea Restaurant overlooking Independence Hall, offers a five-course dinner and dancing to a live band for $50 per person for early seating (5:30 to 7:30), and $100 per person for late seating (8 p.m. until 1 a.m.) Stay over on New Year’s Eve for $169 per night (plus tax) and add a second night for $69 to enjoy the Mummers Parade – just a couple of blocks away.
