A TASTE OF PROVENCE IN PHILADELPHIA
New Ritz-Carlton Hotel Offers Parisian Getaway

Art is in the air in Philadelphia. And at the new Ritz-Carlton, it’s filled with a Parisian flair. To celebrate the upcoming Van Gogh exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Ritz-Carlton is offering a special overnight "Paris getaway."

During the exhibit, which runs from October 22, 2000 through January 14, 2001, the Paris getaway offers guests the chance to step into Provence and be pampered in European style.

Included are:

The cost for the package is $516 on weekdays and $486 on weekends, based on double occupancy and availability.

The Ritz-Carlton also offers a basic Van Gogh package that includes two tickets to the exhibit, breakfast for two and two tickets on Phlash. Price is $336 on weekdays and $306 on weekends, based on double occupancy and availability.

While visiting the exhibit, guests can also take advantage of some of the city’s other attractions, including the nearby Franklin Institute, Philadelphia’s science museum which is debuting a new multi-million dollar Sports Challenge exhibit opening in November 2000. Or guests can sample other Parisian-inspired restaurants such as Georges Perrier’s Le Bec-Fin and Brasserie Perrier.

The recently built Ritz-Carlton, located on S. Broad Street near City Hall, was home of the former Mellon/Girard Bank. The neo-classical domed building is inspired by the Pantheon in Rome and consists of a rotunda featuring public areas and restaurants, an adjacent tower with 331 rooms, two full service restaurants, three bars and the Ritz-Carlton Club, a private lounge with dramatic skyline views and private access to 45 club rooms and suites.
