July Events

Get patriotic at Please Touch Museum® this July! Make an American flag during "Art Play" on July 4th and show it off during a flag-waving parade at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Music and movement come together this month during workshops with dancer Hilary Clark and science moves outdoors to Science Park, for "Mess Fest." Also in July, parents, teachers and guardians can check out the new "Ideas to Grow Board" in the "Story Garden" exhibit. Respond to questions posed such as "How do you get your child ready for bed?" or pose a question of your own. Other daily museum activities include "Art Play" at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., "Science All Around Us®" at 12:30 p.m., and "Tell-A-Story" at 2 p.m.

RUMPUS.com recycling project - how many things can you make from items found around the house? -- Atrium.

Hilary Clark heads a dance workshop for children combining music and movement. Please register your child at the theater entrance by 12:30 p.m. -- Virginia Evans Theater.

Celebrate the rich history of America with Marvin Clifford, a member of the Ogala Sioux tribe from Pine Ridge, South Dakota. Discover the history, culture and philosophies of America's original residents -- Virginia Evans Theater.

August Events

Stay cool at Please Touch® this August! As the weather gets steamy, PTM and the Philadelphia Phantoms invite guests to "Chill Out" on August 5 and 6. Come in and make smoothies, design ice caverns and meet Phlex, the Phantoms "cool" mascot. In celebration of Philadelphia's hosting the Republican National Convention, PTM is celebrating with patriotic craft activities from July 31 through August 4. Also, any guest wearing red, white and blue during this week only will receive one free admission with the purchase of a second admission. Plus, join "Mess Fest" at 10 a.m., "Art Play" at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., "Science All Around Us®" at 12:30 p.m., and

"Tell-A-Story" at 2 p.m. each weekday.

 

 

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, AUGUST 5 AND 6

"CHILL-OUT WEEKEND!"

11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Beat the heat during our "Chill-Out" weekend! Join the Philadelphia Phantoms and their mascot Phlex for a cool time as players demonstrate how to properly use hockey equipment, share hockey safety tips and distribute Phantoms merchandise. Guests will also take a shot on a real hockey goal, design ice caverns, make Phantoms puppets and blend cool fruit smoothies. Don't forget your cameras!

 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 12 AND SUNDAY, AUGUST 13

12 p.m.

Hear an enchanting tale by storyteller Rebecca Kelly complete with music, movement and a sing-along. Stay after the story for a craft activity! -- Story Garden.

Storytellers Jean Combs and Karen Vicks lend a new and interactive twist to favorite fairy tales --

Please Touch MuseumÒ is dedicated to enriching the lives of children by providing cultural and educational hands-on experiences for them.
